Kim Seong Yeol / A way to travel - Train / Wed 11 a.m.

Train - A great shelter

The way to travel that interests me, or rather what I most like to travel with, is train. Generally train is not a special transportation such as hot air balloon or hovercraft. Probably many people would have traveled by train lots of times. However, I don't have much experience traveling by train. I usually travel with cars, subway, or bus. Of course I have been on a train before, but not that much for me to have lots of memories. I like traveling by train because I can be relaxed when riding it. I like the classical puff-puff sound and slight quiver that train makes. I also like to watch sceneries moving fast over the window, which can be a great sightseeing. Excluding high-speed trains like KTX, we have plenty of time to spend for chatting, playing with each other, or just relax while taking the train with others. So train is a good resting and entertaining place for both personally or with friends of family. I think we can make special memories traveling by train, which are different from what we can feel from spending times in a specific spot.

A way to travel

201101227 Min Ho Jung

I have always wondered what traveling would be like if it was done by a hot air balloon. Although I am aware that hot air balloons are not the most ideal way to travel, I can not help but wonder what I would feel and see if I was up in the skies, riding the hot air balloon. If I had the chance to travel on a hot air balloon, I probably can not choose a destination as hot air balloons are difficult to navigate. I will have to rely on the winds to see where it takes me. This is what I admire the most about hot air balloons. You can experience true freedom without restrictions that you encounter on land or sea. While people travel for diverse reasons, I want to have the chance to travel purely out of the desire for freedom: to get away from reality and see the outer world. Traveling by a hot air balloon will give me that. Additionally, I would be able to feel my travel by skin. What I mean is that I would get to feel the wind, the blazing sun and the wispy clouds. Whether the climate is cold or hot, I will be able to feel it for myself out in the open. Getting the chance to feel all this will truly make me part of the travel. Sometimes, I feel that I am not truly traveling when I am sitting in a room, while outside it's hot with the sun. When I am in the hot air balloon, I will have no choice but to be exposed to whatever that is waiting for me. In addition, I will be able to see the world from the upper point of view and see how vast the world is. We spend our time seeing the world from the inside, which gives us so much limitation to what we could take in. However, if I were to watch the world from the hot air balloon, I would be able to observe the big picture of the world. The lines of mountains, the scattered lights of the city, and the circles of lakes will all be visible from the above. While traveling by a hot air balloon is no doubt rough and unstable, I believe that it will bring me true experience of traveling without the fancy wrapping papers that most travels come with.

Sejong The Great

A person that I admire is Sejong the Great because I think he was a real politician. He was the fourth king of the Jo-Seon Dynasty of Korea. Since he was young, he was famous for his genius. In addition, he was a king of a country so the world was easy to live in for him. He could do anything he wanted to do. However, he decided to use his power for more meaningful things like stabilizing and improving the livelihoods of the public unlike many other kings or politicians who take advantage of their power to generate personal gain. He made a ceaseless effort to provide services that make the public live comfortably. For example, he formed military regulations to reinforce the safety of the public. For easing the burden of farming, Sejong the Great wrote a farmer's handbook providing the different farming techniques with scientists. Moreover, he created Hangul, the native phonetic alphabet system for the Korean language so that Koreans from all classes could read and write. In situation like this where the politicians even abuse governmental authority for private gain and profit, the conduct of Sejong the Great merits the highest commendation.

Jung-Min / The person I admire the most / Introduction to English Writing(1), Wednesday 11a.m.

The person I admire the most (outside of my family) would be the hollywood actor Zac Efron. Some people would ask, "There are many hollywood actors who have dedicated to the society or have outstanding charisma or personalities, but why would you like a normal actor like Efron?" I don't admire Efron because of his personality or his acting, but I admire him because of his style or in other words, what he wears. First of all, I admire Efron because of his style, I was able to make a lot of money. I currently work at an online shopping mall, and as one of the managers, I have to design or think of new clothing lines to sell and Efron was just what I needed. Efron had this unique style which was very "vintage", but at the same time it also looked very "casual", and unlike most actors who wear clothes that are too burdensome for others to wear, Efron's clothes were something that anybody could wear. Because he gave me the idea of making good clothing lines, these days I'm really happy when I look at my bank account and my wallet. Another reason that I admire Efron is because of his style, he gave me more confidence. Before I knew about Efron, I just wore clothes that my mother bought me, which were too big and didn't fit me at all. This resulted into making people calling me a nerd or a geek, and it really took down my confidence and I didn't want to go to places where there were a lot of people when I was wearing clothes other than my school uniform. After I knew about Efron, I really liked his style, and I started imitating what he wore. As a result, I avoided the reality of being called a geek, which eventually gave me more confidence. To sum it up, Zac Efron's style didn't just helped me with my financial issues, but it also helped me gain more confidence to myself, I guess that's why I admire him so much.

SeungYoung Yu / My favorite room in my home / WED 11AM

My favorite room in my home

There are five rooms in my home. My favorite room of five rooms in my home is my bedroom as expected which is small but comfortable. The walls are covered with wallpaper whose color is black and white. On the lefe side, there is a queen-sized bed that I have had since i was 11 years old. Next to the bed is my closet. It is white and gold with silver nobs. It is so big that it can hold all my clothes, but some of my stuff has permanent residence on my chair. The clothes get wrinkled there, but I don't mind. Beside the closet is my full-length mirror. On the right side is my bookshelf, which holds most of my schoolbooks, dictionaries, and various books. Next to my bookshelf is my desk which is too big to be cleaned up. It is always messy. My mother doesn't like it that my room is so messy, so someday I am going to clean it up and make her delighted.

Young In, Lee/A favorite piece of art/Wed 11 A.M.

A favorite piece of Art : Flying-Red 2008_Acrylic on Canvas_94X130cm (Kwon, Ki-soo)

There are a lot of "donguri". It is the name of smiling face on the piece. This artist's feature is he always uses this character to express his feeling. The name "donguri" means round and includes living without corner that Korean thinks it as living restful without conflict with others. Although I do not want to live like this way, I like this artist. Because without considering character's meaning or thought, just it gives me some kind of comfortable. So I always enjoy the artist's work with a smile.

And there are some reasons that I pick up this picture as the best of his work. I saw this piece of art in the calendar illustration in 2009. When I saw this piece, I didn't know the reason; I felt some impact from there. I remembered that I saw that calendar for one hour or more over. Looking back on it now, there are two reasons why I was impacted.

First, there are a lot of characters in airplane. I repeated my college entrance exam in a boarding academy in 2009. So I had some tight feeling. And when I saw that piece of art was in my vacation from there. And I felt some liberty from that. And a red background tint also grabbed my eyes and it helped me concentrate on that picture and feel some more freedom or other feelings.

Second, I felt some being consoled from the character's face. Because characters in the piece are all smiles. And I thought they told me like, "don't worry, it will be well!" So I take that calendar to my academy and when I felt some difficultness, I always saw that piece of art. Even end of that repeating study for entrance college, I could not release my attention of the artist, Kwon Ki-soo. So nowadays I go everywhere he display, if I can.

Eom Yuseong/Sense of Place/Wed 11am

Seoul Station, where some people are delighted with meeting their beloved and where others feel a deep sadness saying farewell. For about a year, it seemed to be dark and somber just like Seoul. When I entered Seoul station for the first time, I was confounded by its huge scale and even I could distinguish nothing since the various sounds, each with its own pitch, were blended. People babbled, dragged out their wheeled suitcases and the announcement informed arrivals and departures of trains. Now I feel much more relaxed to look around as I slowly become accustomed to that place. The left side of the station is lined with an information center and many automated ticket machines, the right side with restaurants and cafes - Baskin-Robbins, a Korean restaurant with a red signboard, Paris Croissant, McDonalds and so on. The smells of their foods waft in and entice me, especially the aroma of hot rice freshly cooked, French fries, coffee and newly baked bread. I usually lick a chocolate ice cream of the sweet and soft which always makes me smile. In the meantime, the big and grey train comes and I feel a sudden chill in the air followed by an uncomfortable frictional sound. Soon I feel happier to meet my loved ones getting off the train or sad to say goodbye.
