Eom Yuseong/My valuable possession/Wed 11am

My most valuable possession is a diary which my boyfriend gave to me on my nineteenth birthday. He was waiting for me in a very crowded café, having a chocolate cake with burning candles. It was his unique surprising party and handed me something. I found a lovely diary in an azure wrapping paper. It had a pink cover and an emerald band around the edge. The colors look a little bit old and classic. In the middle of the cover, a boy kisses a girl. A little, red heart floats over their heads and a phrase "Isn't it Romantic?" surrounds them. Most of the inner pages are brown, full of photos with the European atmosphere-antique, peaceful and gentle-and tourist attractions in Europe. Some of them have another boys and girls falling in love. It is really romantic. I love my diary and try to take good care of it. Every time I keep a diary, I think of my boyfriend and feel happy. This year, perhaps, I write my stories on the special diary any harder than I have ever written on other diaries.

My Valuable Possession

A possession that is important to me is my first cellphone. I bought my first cellphone when I was 15 years old. At that moment almost all of my friends had their own cellphones but I didn't. Looking back I don't know why but I was intimidated by that fact so I really wanted to have my cellphone. I pestered my mom to buy one for me and finally she accepted it. My first cellphone was made by LG. It was a flip-phone with shiny black color. The design was very unique. It was a 'sports car-shaped' phone. It had curves of the car and had two speakers that looked like headlights on the upper part. Honestly I really hated it because the design was so unique and it looked like a toy for the kids. Then why is that phone special to me? It's valuable to me because it keeps the memory of my teenage. There's photo of me, my friends and all of my teenage life. Also there are messages I exchanged with my friends. Those messages tell a lot of things; how I was silly and naïve to laugh at the things which means nothing to me now. Nowadays the cycle of changing cellphone is very quick. So a cellphone means nothing more than a machine. But cellphone keeps the trace of my life. For this reason my first love-hate cellphone is precious to me.

Seong Yeol Kim / My Valuable Possession / Wed 11a.m.

One of my most valuable possessions is my Jordan shoes. It's valuable to me because it is the first costly stuff that I bought myself, I mean with my own money. As I was a student before, my parents bought my clothing or other stuffs. They still buy me things I need, but since I have entered university and manage my own money, I purchased some of my things myself, and the first of those was the Jordan shoes. I bought it last year, even though it was quite expensive. Well, I'm not a shoe mania who buys and collects lots of high-priced shoos. I was rather interested in other clothing like shirts or jackets instead of shoes. However, when I saw it on the website, I really liked it at first sight. It was designed uniquely, and I liked its color of white, blue, red combination. At first, I thought about asking my parents for purchasing it. But then I thought only asking for them to buy me pricey stuffs was not a fine thing, so I decided to buy it myself. Though it was quite a burden cost for me, I don't regret buying it. I am really satisfied with this Jordan shoes, and because it was purchased with my own money I am more possessive to it.

Jung-Min / My Special Possession : My Soccer Uniform / Introduction to English Writing(1), Wednesday 11a.m.

I loved soccer for almost my whole life, and any soccer related products I had were all important possessions to me. If I had to choose one, it would definitely be my soccer uniform. The reason that this uniform was so important to me was because it is the uniform of my favorite soccer team in England. My soccer uniform was mostly covered in blue and had white letterings all over it, and on the chest side it had the symbol of the soccer team. Another reason why it was so important was because that it was signed by my favorite soccer player playing for that team. His signature was dazzling across the back side on my uniform, and it made me so proud that I had to show it to everyone I knew. Nevertheless, this soccer uniform is my most valuable possession I could ever have.

My Piano

My treasure No. 1 is the piano. When I was 7 years old, my relative gave it to me for birthday present. It is a wooden and brown-colored upright piano. Upright piano is also called 'vertical piano' because unlike the grand piano, its frame and strings are vertical. I have been playing this piano since then. At that time, piano lesson was very popular among the kids in my age so my friends and I took lessons like the others. We took the lessons for few years together but gradually my friends felt bored and finally quit. On the other hand, I never felt bored when I played the piano and I continued to take lessons for 5 years. Even though I stopped the lesson, I kept playing. It's been almost 20 years. Almost everyday, I play the piano. Whenever I feel depressed, sad or glad I play the piano. This increasingly affected my life and my preference of the music. I bring my MP3 player everywhere I go and I go to the concerts very often. These days, I am working on to make short songs of my own. It is very difficult to make a song but I just started. I will keep working on that to achieve my goal of being a great composer. Thinking back, it was just a piano when it first came to me but now, it is my precious treasure. It is the most important tool to make my dream come true.

Eunbi Hwang / My precious necklace / Wed 11 am

I cherish a silver necklace my boyfriend gave to me. I always put it on because it reminds me of his love and careful concern. Last winter, holding a club party at my club 'JANE', I prepared a dance performance. As I wanted to show a different side of myself, I invited my boyfriend. Before the show, he gave me a necklace with a bunch of sunflower at my surprise, saying "I bought it because you'd be prettier if you dance with it." As I opened the case, I was impressed with the glitter of it in the darkness. It was made from silver and shaped as a snow crystal with glimmering cubics. It formed a snow crystal as it consisted of a flower-shaped decoration with six petals and between each petals, there are six very thin and short stick. The decoration was fingernail-sized and attached with a silver string. I could adjust a length of a necklace by it. All my friends envied my present, and I felt really happy. Also, it was more meaningful for me because I've never had a necklace before. These days, I sometimes pleasantly look back on my first performance at club and the moment he gave a gift for me.

Lee Sanghoon / My precious wallets / Wed 11AM

I'm clumsy at times so I often lose my possession. I lost my wallet I loved, but I got a new one that is also valuable so much.

I was not really interested in dressing up. So I just used to wear what my mother bought and wanted me to. But those were not my type really. One day, I just thought that it should be by myself what I wear and have, and the wallet was the very first thing I bought for myself. It represented my independence. It was a vintage brown leather wallet. It was kind of cheap, but I loved it because it didn't look so. It had Levi's marks inside but had a solid color outside.

I loved to have it mine, but I lost it in my trip with my best friend. My friend was willing to spend time looking for it without any complaints for hours, while I was spitting out moans. Calling home to tell I lost my wallet, I felt so sorry to my parents and worried to be scolded. And as everyone would be, I was so depressed at the time thinking I was so incompetent. Arriving home, however, my parents only gave me some words of comfort. And they gave me a new wallet with a letter in it saying 'brighten up!'. I felt unforgettably thankful to my parents and my friend. This new wallet enabled me to check their love.

Wallets on my possession have had a special meaning to me in addition to its own role!

My Valuable Necklace

Do you have something that makes you feel secure or safe?? I have one, it is my necklace. I got it from my mom when I was 13 years old. She also got it from her mother. It is a simple gold necklace with 2 ring pendants. The rings are small, and the colors are white gold and pink gold. I wear my necklace every single day, and never take it off unless I have no choice, for example, when I am in the hospital taking some medical examination. So I have been wearing this over 10 years. The reason why I am not taking this off is because there is nothing more than my necklace that makes me safe and secure. It feels like I am protected. It now became a part of me, so when I am not wearing it, I feel anxious and something is not right.

Seung Young Yu / My valuable possession: A camera / Wed 11AM

There are the memories that I remember from my history about the most important thing in my life. I have a camera. The camera helps me remain in my memories that I don't want to forget for a long time by taking pictures. My camera is a very useful tool to me because it can take pictures of my life, make me bring vivid recollections of my memory, and help me share my stories with other people.
As time goes by, the moment will fade away and I will gradually forget the moment. But, the camera can capture a second by taking pictures. Whenever I find beautiful scenes or have pleasant times with my friends, I usually take pictures. The moment when I take pictures will never fade away because I capture the instant in my pictures.
In pictures, the past seems to be the present, because the camera can always bring me clear recollections of my memory. My camera can take vivid pictures. I find the details of my past in my pictures. For example, it is possible for me to remember who was with me, where I was and how I felt at that time in my pictures.
I like to share my stories with other people so I sometimes post the review of my memories such as trips, hiking and extraordinary experiences on my facebook. If I do type the review including pictures, the visitors do easily understand my posts more than only characters. The camera can replace the view of my eyes when I have good experiences. I'm sure that the camera helps the visitors on my facebook  share my experiences.
In conclusion, I can tell people why the camera is my valuable possession. First, a camera can catch the times that I want to hold for my good memories. Second, it gives me vivid memories by taking pictures. Finally, it allows me to share my memories with other people. We can never get back our bygone time because the time only flows ahead. However, a camera can hold your time and it helps you  recall your good memories.

Miyeon Kim / My Unique Dress / Wed 11 AM

My Unique Dress

200900368

Miyeon Kim

At my age 7, I had a dress which was the only one in the world. It was made of Hanji, a traditional Korean paper, and I wore it to perform sign language. That dress was made by my youngest aunt, who had talent for designing something. It was very precious thing to me because of my aunt's work. Moreover, its color, soft pink, was my favorite color at that time, and showed the features of Hanji well. So I really enjoyed wearing it not only during the performance, but every time I practice.

The dress had a crease from the waist to the hem. And it had two bracelets as the parts of a dress set, the bracelets and Hanji dress was really nice match.

However, the dress had a crucial flaw; it was made of paper. Even though Hanji has a good quality, Hanji was only a kind of paper. After performing, I had to throw away my unique dress. That's because my passionate performance made the dress wear out. I wanted to keep it, but my mother didn't want to. After all, my Hanji dress couldn't belong to me any more. Though I don't have it now, I think the dress was the most precious treasure of mine.

Ka-Yeong Kim / My Secret Notes / Wed 11 a.m.

How can we keep our thinking or emotion forever? I'm doing that through writing my special note. It's kind of journal, but mine is so special because I also write down the words from books, internet and so on. I started it from when I enter the university. At first, I thought I need to save my own feelings or idea to keep that in mind. I wanted to be a person who leads the society in cultural or educational thing, but I was afraid that someday I forgot that at the same time. That's why I started to write down important thing around me. I believe that it really works when I need strong belief or confidence in my mind. Moreover, it's very useful to store golden saying from random people. These days, everything is so instant because they fade away like a flash. Lots of information overflows that I cannot distinguish which one is better for me or useful. Now, I have my own note and one thing I have to do is just take out the note and follow my memory. There's no rule to write down the note. Principle is simple. Choose a notebook with lovely design, name on it, bring it everywhere you go with a pen. It will make you totally different person as before, as I already experienced that magic.

I have owned few possessions special to me. But one possession remains in my memory until now. Because there was special event relating to that possession. That possession is 'Nintendo Game Boy'(Nintendo is famous Japanese corporation making a lot of game machines). I'm going to say the story of my special possession, 'Nintendo Game Boy'.
When I was young(perhaps five or six years old), my father went to Japan for business and came back to Korea with the game machine for his sons, my older brother and me. That was 'Nintendo Game Boy' and it was brand-new, expensive and rare item in Korea(Every friends who saw my 'Game Boy' envied me). My older brother and me loved this interesting machine. So we always fought each other to use 'Game Boy' more. When my father noticed that we only played with 'Game Boy' and didn't study hard, he broke my 'Nintendo Game Boy' by hammer. After I grew up I understood my father's behavior, but at that time this event was very shocking for me. So, this possession remains in my memory so far.

Joung Hwan Park / My guitar / Wed 11am

I first learned how to play guitar in 2000 when I was in middle school. It was the first instrument that I ever learnt and my feeling towards the guitar began to grow from the very start. While learning guitar from after-school lessons at school, my parents helped me to buy my first acoustic guitar. I listened to a variety of songs and practiced them at home after school, where I eventually began playing at my church with friends who played other instruments. In 2007, I was able to buy a new guitar with my own money. Since it was a more expensive guitar than my first one, I took really good care of it while playing in the Army and at church. As I improved and got to know more about guitars, my want for a better guitar grew more and more. While playing at a church in the Army, I decided to donate my guitar just before I came out, so I began looking for a new guitar as soon as I came out of the Army. After a week of searching, I finally got hold of my third acoustic guitar. With this guitar, I played in my band at HUFS, where we played songs by many different artists such as Maroon 5, Jason Mraz, John Mayer, Coldplay, Muse, etc. I had the chance to save up quite a bit of money during 2011 when working as a translator/interpreter. With the money I saved, I decided to sell my guitar and buy a new one, which would cost me 1,240,000 Won all together. When looking back at when I first learned guitar and myself at the moment, I realized that I've never been without a guitar. Thus, I feel that my acoustic guitar is and will be the most valuable possession in my life.

My Special Video Tapes

I have video tapes on which my mother recorded the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. These video tapes are very meaningful to me because they remind me of my mother's love. When I was young, my mother gave some video tapes. She wanted us to learn English so made us listen to the entire dialogue in English without any subtitle. However, we didn't have to listen to the movies to get the story line. We could figure out the plots roughly, just watching the images. Besides, they always have the same basic story and the plot of the story is very simple. Despite the language barrier, I love the video tapes. Cinderella in her blue dress with glass slippers was so beautiful, and Ariel, the little mermaid under the sea looked so fresh and full of energy. The characters in the films sang a lot of songs and I liked them all. The movies' stories and songs remain fresh in my memory until now. And I could know that because my mother loves us, she taped all the Disney movies. That's why these video tapes are so important to me.

Last year, I got very smart friend so called I-phone. Its whole body is black and the back is round shape that makes me comfortable when I grab it. Before then, I used 2G phone and it was really new world to have smartphone. I can design my smartphone in the way I want to do, while 2Gphone is difficult to change the way it works. For example, I could only use programs which were already set up and it was impossible to set up new programs I need. However, with smartphone I can download applications and use them like a small computer. At first time, it was little bit hard to learn the manual and confusing. But now, I'm sure I cannot live without it. Most of all, I have no other telephone since I live alone. There is no choice except cell phone to communicate with my family and friends in hometown. Even though I do not directly call them, I'm able to check their news and keep in touch with them whenever I want to and wherever I am through applications such as 'Cacao talk' and 'Tictoc'. Smartphone is also scheduler for me. I set alarm clock differently each day according to class schedule and write down important appointment with schedule application. Smartphone is so easy to carry that it's more convenient than to use schedule note. Finally, smartphone has other various functions including mp3 player, checking e-mail account and taking picture. So I am not bored wherever I am!

Young In, Lee/My military jacket/Wed 11 A.M.

My military jacket.

When I was in the army, military uniforms were not important to me. Because the nation gave us that clothes in free, and I could not see any other clothes except that uniforms. Moreover there were heavy and even not warm in winter and not cool in summer. But camouflaged effect was really excellent. Maybe that reason made soldiers wear that uniform.

But I realized the preciousness of a military jacket. I was under in training. And the place was a mountain. To make matters worse, it had been a hard winter. Of course I could see many white things around me, anywhere. It was really cold. But a military jacket saved me. So here I write the amazing jacket to you.

It mixed in color, green and brown, black. Because soldier who wear it need to hide from enemies in the war. And Korea Army may fight in the Korean mountain. So that color is similar to Korea natural environment. Therefore in the night or a shady place, it is really hard to find it. And it has shoulder straps. Because soldiers in high level, show their rank by putting a insignia to shoulder straps.

But now, I don't feel good when I saw that sometimes. Also I cherish it, but it reminds my memories in the hard environment in the army. But it also gave me happy. Because the fact I don't need to wear it anymore and it is hanged in my closet, means I managed to escape from the hell.

Valuable Possession

201101227 Min Ho Jung

I have always valued memories, and my photo album is the object that helps me revisit them. The reason I value memories so much is that they are a part of who I am, and my life. Remembering them gives me warmth and a sense of who I truly am, and that reassures me. My first photo in my first photo album is a picture of the sonogram that my mother took when I was not even out in the world yet. Since then, my parents took numerous pictures of me and put together a number of photo albums to give to me when I grew up. Whenever I flip through my photo albums, I am thankful and amazed at how my parents were able to take all these photos and put them in a chronological order. As I look at the photos, some of them help me revive memories that I never recognized before. For instance, there was a photo of me around the age of 5, swimming in the ocean and wearing a blue bathing suit. I never remembered that I went scuba diving at Hawaii until I saw that photo. After I digested this new information, my memory started flooding in and I remembered the colorful fish and weird sea plants I saw underneath the water. Although this may sound strange, I felt I took a step closer to myself. Seeing the countless photos in my album sometimes makes me feel like I am a child again, and sometimes it helps me recognize my true self. Sometimes I feel a great mixture of feelings of happiness, longing, sadness, joyfulness that I can't recognize what I am feeling. Whatever emotions I feel, I always value my photo albums as it is a guide to my inner self.

Eom Yuseong/TV:Could you live without it/Wed 11am

Some say that TV is a necessity in this digital age and others argue that they do not need it. I think that it is obviously a problem of value-judgment. In my case, however, I could live without it. Just a year ago TV was on all day long before I felt asleep. But after moving into a small room-a studio apartment- I had to remove the furnished TV set. Surprisingly, nothing happened and even I have felt free, for TV does not cage me any longer. I read books instead of watching serials to enrich the sensibility. The internet and magazines help me catch current issues like TV news did. And visiting my friends and calling my family often, I laugh a lot as much as I did when I watched entertainment programs. Moreover, beyond being alternatives, these are enhancing my life quality. I have learned how to spend my time meaningfully. I have had a time to figure out what I like to do and developed my own hobbies. Now I am more satisfied with my present life in which I watch myself than the past when a box watched me. Therefore, I could live without TV.

TV: Could you live without it?

As time goes by, TV is losing its influence. We don't need TV anymore. Unlike the past, it's not hard to imagine a life without a TV. These day people are getting busier. They don't have much time to sit on the couch watching a broadcast. And people enjoy private time and have a particular preference much more than yesterday. For this reason many smart appliances are replacing the function of TV. TVs are fixed in a certain place, but smart appliances such as smartphone are portable. These appliances provide DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) so there is no limit of place. Also we can download a broadcast that we missed on the internet. So using smart appliances and internet, we can watch our favorite broadcast anytime anywhere. Moreover there will be no fight for the channel because we've got our own 'TV'. Therefore we can enjoy our favorite drama alone. Of course TV provides more vivid picture and it's much easier to watch for its size of monitor. But I think that's not the conventional function of TV and that is a matter of one's taste. So TV is not necessary for us. We can live without it.

Eunbi Hwang / TV : Could you live without it? / Wed 11 am.

Approaching the meaning of "living without TV" as there is no TV appliance for me, I can live without it because I don't depend on TV that much. I prefer meeting face-to-face with my friends and talking through a cell phone to watching television. Watching funny TV shows relieves stress but we cannot communicate with others through this "one way" communication medium. It's not my style because I love meeting many people and chatting through Kakao Talk - mobile messenger application used on smart phones. In refreshing and recharging energy, doing those things are much more effective for me. Naturally, as a person who has heavy load of work and limited leisure time I scarcely watch TV. Some people wonder if I take part in the conversation well because people share interests by talking about popular TV programs such as "Gag Concert". However, it's not a problem for me because I can keep up with them by reviewing programs through the Internet. Since I feel no discomfort at all it's easy for me to live without TV.

Lee Sanghoon / TV: Could you live without it? / Wed 11am

We could not live without TV as it has been at the center of our lives in many fields: especially economic, and cultural.

The first reason we cannot live without TV is that there is an already well-established TV industry. Many of us work for jobs related to TV. TV is connected to PDs, producers, manufacturers, and so on. It is literally impossible to guess how numerous jobs TV makes in sum. The world would face unprecedented depression without TV-based industry. But before that, it would be so sad if the genius PDs like Kim Taeho(directing Moohandojeon) stay unemployed!

And the second reason is that TV is an absolute cultural leader in the contemporary world. TV is a trendsetter that shows what's hot in addition to what's new. It works like SNSs that have power among young people, but TV has it among the elder too. It is an undoubted fact that TV has power in cultural ways and it upgrades our lives.

TV is an essential tool in nowaday life. It definitely gives us so many benefits including economic and cultural ways. We wouldn't feel like living without it, and we could not live without it.

TV: Could you live without it?

To be honest, I'm a really big fan of TV programs. When I have nothing to do and staying at home, I almost always watch TV. I like watching entertainment shows, movies, and sports broadcast. I have some certain channels I watch. From channel 40 to channel 49 are movie channels, from 60 to 70 is variety show channels, and from 110 to 112 is sports channels. I always go around those channels when I watch TV. When I find a good program, I stop turning channels and watch it until the end. And then when it's over I go around the channels again, and I repeat this continuously. However, even though I'm a great TV lover, I don't think that I could not live without it. Watching TV is just one of my leisure activities. I just enjoy watching TV programs what I want, and when if there is nothing to watch I don't bother turning it off. Watching TV can be very beneficial. Watching entertaining programs can relieve our stress, and we can get lots of information by watching news. TV is a valuable device unless we are too much addicted to it. I am aware of that excessive time watching TV can be harmful to me, so I think I'm controlling myself quite well.

Ka-Yeong Kim / TV : Could you live without it? / Wed 11 a.m.

I probably cannot live without TV. Now, in my room, I don't have TV cause it's just rented studio. However, sometimes I download some programs using my laptop and watch that. Many Koreans mention TV as 'stupid box', which makes us lazy, unthinkable. But my opinion is different. We can learn lots of common sense from documentary, talk shows and so on. Even in soap opera, we can recall many instructive things because they choose topics around daily life. So I can find some similarity with me and get lessons. And we cannot live only with letters. We need something active, live. Moreover, technology has developed swiftly so that makes us watch in everywhere, at every time. I cannot imagine the life without TV, although other media like internet broadcasting are invented.

Could You Live Without TV?

I am sure I can live without TV for two reasons: TV is only a medium that contains contents which matters and TV often limits the use of your imagination. I spend a lot of time watching TV but I concentrate not on TV itself, but the programs. Not through TV, I can watch any program I want through other media like internet, smart-phone, and so on. In addition, you can enjoy the programs that you love in real-time these days. With the introduction of new media technology, TV is getting lost its prominence. Another reason is that I think TV is "the idiot box". Of course there are tones of programs which are good and helpful on TV. But I think watching TV which uses visual images all the time could reduce people's imagination. Because TV offers visual images about everything, people don't need to picture something to themselves, while they do when reading books. Also, TV is not interactive like internet so stuffs people's head with its own visual images, not giving time to them to organize their own thoughts. Therefore, I think I could live even if there is no TV.

TV, Could you live without it?

To write a paragragh whose subject is that I can live without TV, I think about living without TV.
If I thought that there wasn't TV in the world, the world wouldn't be interesting. I think there are two reasons.
First of all, I'm the man who like TV very much. Especially, I like drama and variety programs. Whenever I go to school every day, I do always watch drama or show programs. When in vacation, I used to watch TV. So, I don't think about the world that doesn't have TV, and I can't live in the world without it! If there was not TV in the world, people would go crazy because of being bored.
Second, When important events occur, the first thing telling us about events is TV. If it is busy for you to prepare to go school, TV tell you important news of the day. So I can't live without TV.

TV: Could you live without it?

I think this question can be construed in two different meanings. And my answer differs according to each way.

First, in question, when 'TV' means only appliance which shows a variety of programs to people, my answer to the question is YES. Because there are so many other appliances that have same function like TV. For example, we can watch our favorite programs on DMB through smartphone. And we can download or watch even the programs we missed by computer. This appliances like smartphone, computer can fulfill a function of TV and are more convenient than TV. So, I think we can live without TV.

But I think the word, 'TV' can means not only a just appliance showing a programs but also a programs we watch through TV. When TV means both thing, I think we can't live without TV. Without TV and a programs in which we get information that we need to go through many hardships of life, we can't do anything because we can't gain necessary information.

Dasom Yoo/TV/Wed

TV: Could you live withou it?

Could we live without TV? Maybe yes or maybe no. Could I live without it? Absolutely not! And there are two reasons that I cannot live without it. First of all, it is because I relieve my stress by watching TV. Some people say that they relieve stress by working out or spending time with friends, but for me, watching entertaining program or dramas on TV is much better. I like to just sit in front of the big screen, watch the programs I like and laugh for no serious reasons. Watching TV on weekends is the only time that I feel free and get released from any stress. Second, for me, TV is more convenient on getting information than internet. For example, in the morning I am busy preparing to get dressed and to get to HUFS on time, so I don't have enough time to turn the computer on and check on the internet about the weather or the news whether subway line 1 is working fine or having problem. With TV, all I have to do is turn the TV on, listen to the news and get prepared at the same time. So if people ask me if I could live without it, my answer would be NO!

Joung Hwan Park / TV - With or without? / Wed 11am

Nowadays, TV has become such a necessity that people wouldn't be able to imagine a life without one. TV is one of the most powerful media tools in the world. Bearing that in mind, I think TV acts as the most influential medium for children and young teenagers when growing up. There is a diverse range of programs and movies that are available for people to watch at home comfortably. Many parents with children and young teenagers may think that their sons and daughters take in violence and obscene language from outside of their homes, but that might not always be the case. Within the comfort of their homes, children and young teenagers are exposed to inappropriate materials through TV shows containing materials that are violent and sometimes sexual, and movies with violence obscenity in them, which have a negative impact, and in some cases could eventually provoke them to do similar things in the future.

There are health issues related with watching TV. There is no doubt that TV has negative influences to children, but on the other hand, there are also beneficial factors. These might include the news, cartoons for entertainment, and education channels where children are able to learn and take in a lot of useful knowledge and information. However, the increase in time spent in front of the TV can lead to eyesight deterioration, hearing or posture problems. Children spend hours in front of the TV and could be too close to it, slouching or have the volume on too loud. The signs of these problems aren't visible straight away, but could lead to more serious problems in the future.

I currently live by myself near campus and do not have a TV in my room. For the past year or so, I've been able to cope just fine without a TV because I download the programs or movies that I'd like to see from the Internet and watch them on the computer. Personally, I think that's a more efficient way of watching TV programs since there are no commercials when you watch them on the computer.

TV: Could you live without it?

The Answer of this question is changed in where I'm in. I'll write here two answers, and it will be different. Because I got some mixed feeling about watching TV.

When I was in the army, TV is the last hope to me. Watching TV means he's ranks above corporal. If soldier watch TV in lying on the floor, maybe he is high in ranks. Anyway there are not lots of entertainments. So soldiers usually watch TV in their break time. I was the soldier, too. Listing here what I saw in TV is, The Running man (SBS), The Muhan dozun (Infinite challenge, MBC) and other lot of things. In honestly, TV helped me relax my mind and body. When I watched TV, I could forget everything about incident occurred in the Army. But there are also weak points of watching TV. The problem is forgetting everything. Not only bad things or worries but also a plan in my life and study something. So after I saw TV, I usually felt some kind of futility. So, at that time I could not live without TV. Even I got angry, if there was no TV.

But the situation is turned over. I was discharged from the army last December. And in this world, there are so many interesting things. It means I don't need the TV, Anymore. Nowadays I rarely turn on the TV. I watch the TV only one or two times in a week. But I use a smart phone or a computer. Moreover these devices can access the TV via there APPs. How smart it is? So, nowadays I can live without TV.

I could not live without TV in the army, but now, I can live without TV. Maybe it is going to be a continuous thing.

I may be able to live without TV, but given a choice I would not. TV is the bridge that connects me to my family and the outside world, and this is crucial for me. To begin with, TV is the object that draws our family together for some family time. Given the personality of our family members, we are not the kind of family that regularly has family time along with friendly conversations on our life. Additionally, since we are all busy with our individual lives, we seldom have the time to eat dinner all together. Nevertheless, TV provides such opportunity when our family gather together to watch a TV program that we all enjoy. While we discuss our opinions on the TV show, we also talk about the events that we went through during the day. TV is more than just an entertainment for our family, it helps us connect and bond. Moreover, TV provides the window to the world besides my personal life. There is wide range of TV programs that provide diverse information on the global society. Whether it is about the revolution going on in Arab countries, or a famous restaurant located in New York, it gives me joy and enthusiasm in my life to know about the events happening in the world. Several months ago, I watched a TV program on the truth and lies that are manipulated by the elites. Seeing the unjust way the elites maintain their power and take away hope from the powerless moved me deeply, and influenced the way I think. TV plays an important role in the way it directs my life, and frankly it would be hard for me to live without it.

I think we can live without the TV. My family also rarely watch TV. We just watch TV when parents are watching the news or drama.

There are two main reasons for watching TV: to get some information and to get some fun.

But today, the Internet replaces these functions of TV totally. We can get information that we want easily on web sites and watch or download every comedy programs on the Internet. The only strength of TV is it's big screen. But I think only fans of drama or singer stick to TV for thins strength. In my case, I also don't spend much time watching TV. I just watch TV when somebody is already watching TV. If I could't watch TV, I wouldn't feel any inconvenient. Because if I want to watch some programs, all I have to do is just download them and enjoy. I think many other people also use the Internet instead of watching TV on time. Using Internet is more convenient way because we can use our time flexibly. We don't need to stick to original TV time.

In my opinion, Internet is more convenient, interesting media than TV. We can watch every TV programs on the Internet and for this reasons, TV doesn't have much attraction for viewer. So we can live well without watching TV and we wouldn't feel any discomfort.

Better off being without TV

I am pretty sure we all can live without TV. Moreover, I think It would be even better to live without it because you probably would do something else more valuable than watching TV. For example, I read some cases on the internet and they were about a family who got rid of the TV. After getting rid of the TV, children began to read more books and they spontaneously had much more conversation than ever. In my case, I often make up my mind to read books or study my major rather than watching TV but I end up finding myself laughing in front of the TV. Watching TV is not helpful for people's health and mentality. It could worsen people's eyesight or affect children's brain development. Of course there are some good parts of TV. It gives lots of information, shows many things that people can't generally see and entertain people very effectively. However, even if there was no TV in this world, there are tons of other things and activities that can replace the good parts of TV. For example, there is the computer and the internet. You can do almost everything with the computer and the internet. And there is the sports. It is very entertaining not only just watching it but also playing it for yourself. It might be hard to live without TV at first, but people would soon realize they could actually live without it and it's better living without it.

I live without a TV

It's been almost 6 years my family have seldom watched TV. In fact, my family and I don't own a TV. There is no TV not only in my rented room, but in my original house.

At first, It was educational purposes to get rid of TV at home. My parents decided to remove it because my younger brother watched TV too much. But secondly, for me, not watching a TV was not my intention. After living in highschool dormitory, I just couldn't watch it regularly. My TV viewing days lowered gradually because there wasn't it anywhere in dorms. And now, I am accustomed to live without a TV.

Then, How can I watch the programs I like now? The way I use may be quite similar to other young people. If I don't want to miss certain program, I often download it through the Internet or just watch it by using ON-AIR function on the homepage of broadcasting station. If it is not available neither, I ask my friends to send me the program file. Either way, I can see my favorite programs without TV. And rather, this kind of way is convenient for me!

I think all of us can live without TV. As a matter of fact, I am living without TV and there is no problem at all, because there are many substitutes today such as smartphone and Internet. In my case, I have some programs which I really love to watch and my smartphone has no DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) function. Therefore I usually download my favorites through the Internet to watch them. Even though I have to wait until the file is uploaded by other users, I do not feel any inconvenience. I just wait about 5minutes. Then, I can watch and stop watching it any time I want to, once I download it. It is more convenient than watching through TV that I cannot pause for a while or rewind it. Also, we can see people every day who watch TV holding their smartphone, PMP, and tablet PC at bus or subway. It tells we can enjoy watching TV without TV these days.

My life

-Valuable days

                                                                               201103859 Eunbi Hwang

These days spending satisfactory time, I attribute it to my various experience from my childhood. I have lived with warm-hearted parents and a kind brother in Nowon-Gu, Seoul since I was born. In my childhood, I joined actively in class activities such as singing, expressing my opinion and discussing because I outgoing and lively personality. Gratefully, my mom who knew well about my character encouraged me to do a lot of activities. For example, normally I did art and played piano and even took a dance-sports course - I don't like to remember dancing in front of many people since I was fat in those days. Living at the same place, all my friends had similar backgrounds until at middle school. After attending high school, however, there are many people who grew different environment from that of mine. At first, seeing those who are noticeably good at English or other subject which is hard for me, I felt daunted and got stressed. In spite of hardship, I learned how to overcome it while adjusting my school life and sharing common interests with my sincere friends. Also, thanks to knowing the ways in which dealing with toughness after taking college entrance exam, I determined that I would spend my time fruitfully as an undergraduate. I can do anything that I want - from choosing classes to participating in extracurricular activities and a club meeting. Last year, I studied hard and prepared dancing and choir performance at club meetings. Last but not least, I have been dating with my lovely boyfriend. As I have mentioned, nowadays I feel happy in controlling my schedule freely, and I will manage my campus life rewardingly.

Re: Kim Ka-Yeong / My life until now / Wed 11A.M.

Simply, my life an be described as dream and the destiny. From when I was young, I really enjoyed dreaming about something, like my future and my relationship, my studying and so on. That makes me strong to propel my daily life as well. In other words, dreaming drives my whole life ; it becomes my motto. :Life flows through dreaming. One interesting thing is, if you dream about deeply, you can match the relationship between your life and society. It means we can give the meaning, the connection, and finally, i becomes the destiny.

I was born in Busan, on February 11th 1993. I had been in Busan since then except some trips toward other cities. I used to be a trouble boy as I went to school earlier than others because I was born in February. But I got grown, I adopted. I was late in development both physically and psychologically. But one thing I was superior was the lingustic ability, which means I was good at English. That's why I chose to enter foreign language high school and university of foreign studies. The fact that I entered foreign language high school is such a turning point on me. As I said, I had never performed any outstanding jobs in studying or some other fields. I was not so confident at all. But studying in the high school was a quiet fun to me and it inspired me to study. I am not sure I'm still good at English any more but it's quiet sure that I like it. I'm looking forward to studying English more deeply throughout my college life. And now, I'm finding how to enjoy life in campus in addition to studying.

My Life Until Now

- The best experience, highschool life

200900368 Miyeon Kim

Someone said, "Now is the best moment in my life." Of course, I couldn't agree more.

However, I also think everyone has the best moment or experience of whole life.  I believe the best moment of my life is highschool life. I have been in Geochang Highschool which is located in Geochang, South Gyeongsang Province for three years. Everytime I was there is the best. While most Korean students kept studying for Scholastic Aptitude Test, I could experience many things. For some examples, my friends and I formed an octet of singers. We enjoyed singing during the school festival held in September. When guests or alumni comes, we used to sing a song in front of an audience. At Christmastime, my octet members with a Santa suits sang our songs on the spot to raise charity fund. I found all performing in public were thrilling experience in itself.

And I was a member of the school broadcasting club as a director. My club created a various program, found the new broadcasting approach, and we were tried to take part in other students in our show. Those things helped club members to improve creativity and production capabilities. Moreover, interaction with senior members and forming bonds were really exciting.

The 56th student council which I was the member of started off in August, 2007. Consisting of 23 member, the student council did all the things related to the students including main festival (spring and fall) managing, and orientation for freshmen. Not surprisingly, there was a unique bond among the council members as a result of carrying out all things together everyday. I couldn't describe all the events and activities, but many school events were enough to make great memories for me. I am very thankful I could get wonderful times in my teen age. And I want to express thank to my parents for supporting me all the time.

My life until now

I was born in June 7th 1991 as the oldest son. There are 4 members in my family; Mom, dad, and a sister who is now second grade of high school. We moved to Geojedo when I was about three, and I loved living there. I could play in the beachside whenever I wanted to, and could eat seafood which I really love anytime. For me it is an unforgettable childhood memory. When I was about seven, my family went to Romania in Europe because of my father's business and lived there about 2 and a half year. This is when I first started to study English. For a child who knew only 'yes' and 'no', living in a foreign country was challenging for me. But my parents encouraged me to study hard and so I could study a lot just as an ordinary Korean student. Moreover, among that period we traveled around many countries in Europe for more than a year. Although I traveled many countries such as France, Italy, U.K, and so on, I was too young to remember all the memories of traveling Europe. So I wish to go Europe once more that I can make more good memories. Anyway it was a great opportunity for me to learn much off-school education as well practical English. I came back to Korea at 10, and I'm living in Chang Dong since then. Thanks to my experience living abroad, I went to Daeil Foreign Language High School and could study in a good environment. However I failed to get high grade I wished to get at KSAT, so I had to study one more year for the next KSAT. It was a harsh time studying in an academy for another one year, in a restricted condition under a great stress that I have failed once. But in retrospect, I think it was an opportunity to look back on my life and know more about myself. In fact, my result of the second KSAT was not enough satisfying; actually it was not that different from my first KSAT score. However, I made up my mind to do my best whatever I'm meant to do, and I entered HUFS majoring in Business Administration, diligently doing my school work.

My Life until Now

I have two faces like Janus. I am really enthusiastic when I am doing what I like to do. On the other hand, I am indifferent to what I do not want to do. This is my strong and weak points, I think. Since I was 13 years old, I have been interested in Japanese culture. So I decided to learn Japanese by myself, and started to watch Japanese dramas. Since then, I have watched about one hundred of Japanese dramas and now I speak Japanese fluently. I also learned Japanese custom, life style, and so on. It helped me to broaden perspectives on other countries. As I grow older, however, I have learned that I am not able to keep doing what I love to do.

Becoming a college student, I was extremely frustrated due to new circumstance. I had dreamed exciting college life which is filled with what I wish to do and what I want to be. Experiencing 'real' college life, I realized that it is quite different from what I imagined. I was highly nervous in class. All the courses for my major are taught in English. But I was poor at listening and speaking English. As I took economics course, it was first time to take every class in English and I had never learned economics before. So, every economics class was like a hell that I cannot hear anything, understand anything. I just kept falling behind other students. I was nearly in panic and didn't know what to do. I wanted to be comforted, however, there was no friend and family who are strongly supported me in hometown. In that time, positive perspective and adaptability made me overcome those situations and cheered me up. Therefore, I believe I can make up for my weakness with other strong points.

My Life Until Now

My life until now has changed a lot since I was born in January 8th 1990.

When I was elementary school student, I was very outgoing, mischievous boy. I always hung out in groups with my same friends and played a joke on other boys. So, there were many children who wanted to get along with me. Also there were many children who were scared of me.

But when I was sixteen years old, I moved to other city and gained weight. Growing apart with my old friends in my hometown, and missing confidence on my appearance, I became very passive and withdrawn person. I knew only school and home, and there were not funny, interesting memories in my middle and high school ages.

But when I entered into HUF, I got along with anyone and I recovered my confidence on myself. And that confidence has maintained until now. I'll spend my life more active and enthusiastic.

Adding one more thing, My family is most important thing in my life. Without my family's love, devotion and concern for me, there have been no person who were named HyunCheol CHO.
