TV: Could you live without it?

201101227 Min Ho Jung

I may be able to live without TV, but given a choice I would not. TV is the bridge that connects me to my family and the outside world, and this is crucial for me. To begin with, TV is the object that draws our family together for some family time. Given the personality of our family members, we are not the kind of family that regularly has family time along with friendly conversations on our life. Additionally, since we are all busy with our individual lives, we seldom have the time to eat dinner all together. Nevertheless, TV provides such opportunity when our family gather together to watch a TV program that we all enjoy. While we discuss our opinions on the TV show, we also talk about the events that we went through during the day. TV is more than just an entertainment for our family, it helps us connect and bond. Moreover, TV provides the window to the world besides my personal life. There is wide range of TV programs that provide diverse information on the global society. Whether it is about the revolution going on in Arab countries, or a famous restaurant located in New York, it gives me joy and enthusiasm in my life to know about the events happening in the world. Several months ago, I watched a TV program on the truth and lies that are manipulated by the elites. Seeing the unjust way the elites maintain their power and take away hope from the powerless moved me deeply, and influenced the way I think. TV plays an important role in the way it directs my life, and frankly it would be hard for me to live without it.
