Eom Yuseong/TV:Could you live without it/Wed 11am

Some say that TV is a necessity in this digital age and others argue that they do not need it. I think that it is obviously a problem of value-judgment. In my case, however, I could live without it. Just a year ago TV was on all day long before I felt asleep. But after moving into a small room-a studio apartment- I had to remove the furnished TV set. Surprisingly, nothing happened and even I have felt free, for TV does not cage me any longer. I read books instead of watching serials to enrich the sensibility. The internet and magazines help me catch current issues like TV news did. And visiting my friends and calling my family often, I laugh a lot as much as I did when I watched entertainment programs. Moreover, beyond being alternatives, these are enhancing my life quality. I have learned how to spend my time meaningfully. I have had a time to figure out what I like to do and developed my own hobbies. Now I am more satisfied with my present life in which I watch myself than the past when a box watched me. Therefore, I could live without TV.

  1. I like your writing, because it contains a lot of your thought. I like the part where you say 'TV does not cage me.' it is very interesting expression. Also i like 'tv was on all day long until you fell asleep'. I did that too. But i am not quite getting the part the sentence right before the last sentence. 'I watch myself than the past when a box watched me.'. I think i know what you are meaning, but not exactly the whole meaning.

  2. I agree that your alternatives are enhancing life quality. TV is not the only tool to get new information. I think your current life style fits you so much.
But, as the previous student already said, I can get the expression, 'when a box watched me'. I don't know what that mean is.

  3. Your strong point is that the supporting idea support well your main idea, having a flow. You add many examples and explanations.

I am more satisfied with my present life in which I watch myself than the past when I just sat in front of a box, so-called ‘TV’, and it watched me. Therefore, I could live without TV.
