Joung Hwan Park / Buying a guitar / Wed 11am

Any of you guys ever thought about learning to play the guitar? Well, for those of you who have, let me give you some tips on buying your first guitar. Although there are a lot of things to consider before buying a guitar, you might first want to set a price limit on how much you could spend because you wouldn't have that much knowledge on guitars since it's you're just beginning. When you've set the price limit, then you should look for a certain model and brand of a guitar, which is available within your price range. Going online and seeing what people have said on websites and blogs is recommended, but if you happen to know anyone that plays or knows a lot about guitars, I'd say asking for their advice is a better and a more effective way. Now that you've set the price limit and thought about which model and brand to buy, you're just about half way. Now it's time for you to make the effort in actually buying the guitar. You could also do this online, via websites where they sell new guitars and blogs where people put there guitars up for sale at fairly reasonable prices. However, I would strongly recommend you going to Nakwon Sang-ga located at Jongno 3-ga station, which is a large building consisting of many small shops that sell all sorts of instruments including guitars, drums, percussion, pianos, etc. The sound and design is also an important factor when buying a guitar and at Nakwon Sang-ga you have the chance to actually see and play the guitar, and decide which one you prefer the most. Another tip is to go to at least two or three shops to compare the different types of guitars matching your pre-set criteria in terms of price and model because taking enough time rather than being in a hurry is recommended when buying any instrument. After you've spent enough time going around the shops and bought your first guitar, all that's left for you is to go and have fun. Enjoy!

  1. I always wanted to buy a guitar, but I never got the chance to do it because I was too afraid that I might buy the wrong one. After I read your paragraph, I actually want to follow thses steps when I have the time to go buy one. I like how you are very descriptive in the process of buying a guitar. Also, I like how you made several tips instead of just one.
