Backpacking Trip

201101227 Min Ho Jung

When I became a university student, the number one wish I wanted to achieve was going on a backpacking trip. A backpacking trip is one of the most desired and common wish for countless young adults, especially university students. People may have their fantasies of what a backpacking trip is like, but when one is in a foreign country it is impossible to predict what might happen. Thus, I will introduce several basic safety tips that could ensure your trip is safe.

First, you should visit the website for safe overseas travel. This website is managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and gives you safety information on the places you are planning to travel to.

Second, always keep your passport and airline ticket with you. The passport is a form of an identification of who you are in a foreign country, so it is like and ID card. An airline ticket is a valuable possession that ensures your safe flight back to you home country.

Third, when traveling to a foreign country you have to comply to the laws and the rules of the country. Like the saying "When in Rome, do as the Romans do", you have to research on the laws and the culture of the country beforehand in order to have a pleasant trip.

Fourth, always know any kind of a local contact number that you could call when an accident happens. Whether it is the contact number of the embassy, travel agency, the place you're staying at, or someone you know in the country, it is crucial to know at least one contact number to call in case of an emergency.

Fifth, always be cautious of the generosity from the local people. There have been numerous cases in which people have suffered from consuming the food strangers gave them in a foreign country. It is never bad to be cautious, especially if you are in an unfamiliar place.

Traveling is a pleasant experience, but there is no guarantee it will be a safe trip. Nevertheless, if you are aware of these basic safety tips, there is a great chance that you will have a safe and memorable trip.

  1. This is very useful information. I will keep this in mind when I travel overseas.
There are two things I'd like to improve. First one is the title. I think it would be better if you mention about safety tips in the title because this paragraph is mainly about the safety tips.
Second one is that I think this paragraph is not in time order. It would be better if you set up a concrete example. For instance, if you met bad guys in foreign country, first you should shout for help, second blah blah...
I hope my suggestion be helpful to improve this pragraph.
    Good writng!
