Joung Hwan Park / The worst waitress / Wed 11am

Some people might say that it's easy to come upon a bad waitress at a restaurant and some might it isn't. However, I can say with great confidence that out of the few bad waitresses that I've met this one was the worst. My friend and I were at a restaurant, reading the menu and looking to fill up our empty stomachs when the waitress approached us. At first, she didn't appear anything different from the other waiters and waitresses at the restaurant, but we were able to tell that she was the odd one out when she spoke. For many restaurants, in general, customer service is considered one of the many things that attracted customers besides the food quality, interior designs, word-of-mouth, and so on. However, this waitress' tone of voice was so low and unenthusiastic in taking our order that we thought the manager hired her just for the sake of it, or she was just tired from the day's work. We ordered our food and were enjoying our stomachs being filled up as the chopsticks and spoons continuously delivered into our mouth. Then, we decided to order some drinks to quench our thirst and the same waitress that took our order happened to approach us again. As we were waiting for the drinks, the bowls and plates on our table were looking pretty empty, but still no drinks. We called the waitress again to tell her that we've finished our meals, but no drinks were served. It was revealed that she had forgotten about our order while we finished our meals without even getting a sip of those drinks. My friend and I were so frustrated, even though the food was nice, that we told the manager about the situation and ended up receiving a discount on the bill. The food was good and the discount wasn't so bad, but I'm never going back to that restaurant again.

  1. Your telling a story contains good vocabularies, so it was quite interesting reading it. I really liked, '...that we thought the manager hired her just for the sake of it, or she was just tired from the day's work.' as this sentence seems kind of humorous and doesn't feel like any Korean expression.
I don't have much to say about the thing to be improved, but at the end of the first sentence '...and some might it isn't. ', it seems that it needs to be
'...and some might [say] it isn't. '. It's just a tiny grammar thing and the professor didn't advise us to give much feedback about it, but I'm pretty sure that it's important as it is the starting sentence of the writing. And it's the only thing I could say. It's a good writing!

    1. I knew it wrong. It's a correct expression. Forget about it.

  2. I really agree with your feelings you wrote in your writing because I also wrote about the same topic; the worst waitress. I think you wrote your feelings well enough to be deliverd to the readers. One thing which I think would be better if you wrote more about is more details of the waitress, such as her facial expressions, gestures, or how she looks like. If these details are added, I probably think that it would be more easy and effective to understand and agree with your feelings and main topic.

  3. "The worst waitress" (2nd draft)

Some people might say that it’s easy to come upon a bad waitress at a restaurant and some might it isn’t. However, I can say with great confidence that out of the few bad waitresses that I’ve met this one was the worst. My friend and I were at a restaurant, reading the menu and looking to fill up our empty stomachs when the waitress approached us. I remember her as looking quite young, as if she just graduated from high school. At first, she didn’t appear anything different from the other waiters and waitresses at the restaurant, but we were able to tell that she was the odd one out when she spoke. For many restaurants, in general, customer service is considered one of the many things that attracted customers besides the food quality, interior designs, word-of-mouth, and so on.
