<Sense of Place>

 There is a really 'strange' place near HUFS. It's a restaurant called 'Strange Topokki'. It is strange because, against to its name, it doesn't actually sell topokki. Instead it serves topokki infinitely for free when we order a menu. Like its name, it can boast its distinctive interior design and mood. It is located in an obscure alley and this location adds its mystery. Before the entrance there is a table and a chair that look worn out. Above the table, there are glittering miniature bulbs. There is also a blue chalkboard and the menu of the restaurant is written in chalk on it. Entering the restaurant, the smell of food greets us. It might be a tomato sauce. On the right side we can hear the sizzling sound from the small kitchen. Dimly, we can hear music flowing from the speaker too. The ceiling and the wall are all painted in red. On the wall we can find some scribbles written in white chalk. Some small and black boards are hung on the wall and some phrases are written on them. The table is small and it's also red but there are some wooden boards colored in yellow or green, nailed on top of it. On the very inward side finds a small room also colored in red. In the room we can see a boiler and some pipes on the wall. Overall, this restaurant has a mysterious and cozy atmosphere, and the design creates vintage really well. All of these are making this restaurant literally strange.

  1. Although I have been there only one time, you reminded me of the atmosphere of the restaurant. You're really good at describing a sense of sight and mentioning outside of the restaurant as well as inside of it is very good idea. However describing sense of hearing is quit short than that of sight. If I were you, I would add the kind of music (such as Korean popsong and classical music) to 9th line or "The restaurant is always filled with girl's chatter and I almost hear the voices from other tables since the restaurant is very small blahblah~." But don't mind! You did good job.

  2. I've been there just once, so I couldn't remember the details of there before. However, your writing reminded me specifically about the place, and I think it is because you wrote well on details and senses of the place. Your writing makes the readers to feel like they are actually there! Although your writing is generally good, it could be a better writing if you wrote more about other senses. For example, you could describe more about the music, or can tell us more about the taste. More description of other senses could make your writing even better. Anyway, your writing makes me want to go there once more!

    There is a really strange place near HUFS. It's a restaurant called Strange Tteokbokki. It is strange because, against to its name, it doesn't actually sell Tteokbokki. Instead it serves Tteokbokki infinitely for free when we order a menu. Like its name, it can boast its distinctive interior design and mood. It is situated in an obscure alley and this location makes this restaurant more mysterious. It takes about 5 minutes from HUFS. Before the entrance there is a table and a chair that look worn out. Above the table, there are glittering miniature bulbs. There is also a board painted in blue and the menu of the restaurant is written by chalk on it. Entering the restaurant, the bell hung on the door greets us. Then we can smell the delicious food. I don’t know what smell it is but it could be tomato since the restaurant sells spaghettis. On the right side we can hear the sizzling sound from the small kitchen. Dimly, we can hear music flowing from the speaker too. Patrons of the restaurant are mostly girls so the inside is filled with their busy chatter. The ceiling and the wall are all painted in red. On the wall we can find some scribbles written by white chalk. Some small and black boards are hung on the wall and some phrases are written on them. The table is small and it's also red but there are some wooden boards colored in yellow, green or orange nailed on top of it. On the very inward side finds a small room also colored in red. In the room we can see a boiler and some pipes on the wall. Overall, this restaurant has a mysterious and cozy atmosphere, and the design creates vintage mood really well. All of these are making this restaurant literally strange.
